Prajna Rehabilitation and Vocational Center

A recent study published in 2018 found 9.2% of children aged 2-5 and 13.6% of children aged 6-9 in India had at least one of seven neuro-developmental disorders (vision impairment, epilepsy, neuromotor impairments including cerebral palsy, hearing impairment, speech and language disorders, autism spectrum disorders, and intellectual disability).** A 2009 World Bank report estimated that 5-8% of India's population had a disability.***

In its endeavor to extend support to the ignored special children especially those who are mentally challenged, Prajna Rehabilitation and Vocational Center started residential school with support from Spandana foundation.

The mission of Prajna school is to empower children and adults with developmental disabilities to live engaged and meaningful lives. We want to help special children and adults to try to be independent. The agency accomplishes this by offering a variety of person centered support services that provide the opportunity to live, work, volunteer, and socialize within the community.

We perform different activities on a daily basis like Yoga, Reading, Writing, Handcrafts, Computer training, Vocational training, excercise etc. on all levels. We are mainly dependent on donations by student’s families and Puttur Rotary Club.

Your support and donations help us provide services to more children and adults with special needs.
